Meteor Crash

Over 1 year later... it has taken me this long to learn Maya and specifically learn FX animation.  This specific project took me a total of 2 months from beginning to end to complete.  I learned a lot along the way, realizing there is much to do to achieve the correct look.  Working with Matchmover, Photoshop, After Effects, and Maya, one small 3 second clip takes a lot of research, fun, and hard work (not necessarily in that order.)

I posted my works in progress.

Bitten

Going for round 2 to make up for the lack of updates lately.  I wanted to make a shirt design in my silkscreen class since the first day.  Going through many ideas, I was stuck on 50's pinups as a theme.  So I drew ladies (mostly naked, a few clothed) for like two months.  I tried to remember to make art with a purpose rather than just ending up with something someone has seen before on playboy or something.  I am mostly happy about the heart being in the right place, I think that's the coolest part of the shirt.  I made 10 shirts if anyone is interested in buying one, let me know!  I like the purple color the most because of the high contrast, I made it in a few different colors as well.  I enjoy wearing a shirt I designed, you could too!

It's about time!

Postponing art has postponed my life.  I have to push the reset button and get back on track to making more artwork.  Moving on, ...I made this print in my silkscreen class awhile ago.  It was more experimental this time in as I didn't want to have too much control of the final outcome of the print.  I took the original picture in a bookstore in New York a couple of months ago.  Still getting the amateur prints out of my system, hopefully I can continue with the screen printing process and become better over time.  Yayyy!

Heart Beach Print

Here is one of the finished prints I did of my art piece I now call "Heart Beach."  The screen printing process is definitely a process that takes me awhile to do, at least compared to the rest of the students in class, but I enjoy the learning process and look forward to getting better.  The colors turned out to be a bit on the pinkish side but the effects of imperfection is one that I gladly accept with open arms.  The feel to have a one of a kind artwork is in my hands again.  It has been difficult to have that connection with digital images working with photoshop.  Coming from an animators background, animators feel that every drawing has a connection and emotion as soon as the pencil hits the paper and these prints re-kindle those feelings for me.  I will remember to back away from the computer and work with materials more often!

Love is in the... beach

Art imitates life,... especially in my artwork. I was walking down the beach the day before Valentine's day and saw lots of young kids making out. Oh yeah,... I also saw cute kids making a big heart in the sand! Young love was definitely in the air! Although I hit myself for forgetting my sketchbook once again, the image remained permanently in my head until I finally got a pencil and paper in my hand. I drew this image in photoshop but transferred it to acetate and am in the process of making a silkscreen print of it. It's a lot of fun to have control over every aspect of your artwork again from the quality of lines to the various creation of color.

Greatest Inspiration

So I have been easily inspired my everything lately and it feels good to want to draw and be creative 24 hours a day. I came back from New York a few weeks ago and had to draw this right away for some strange reason. I put everything else aside and worked on this piece for two weeks on and off. Without getting into too many details... this is my dream girl, so if you see her out there, tell her I love her, haa! I guess this works because it's Valentine's Day weekend, but not this year for me, ...maybe next year. Inspired by Chris Sanders, Art Noveau, and a touch of Japanese artwork, I had the best time creating this from beginning to end. Always a pleasure drawing beautiful women, hopefully there will be more in the future!
